Members-only pop-up diner brings signature maple syrup dish to Los Angeles

An exclusive diner that shot to fame in the high-end Hamptons area of New York, United States, recently made its way to Los Angeles, with maple syrup featuring as part of the headline act.

Babe’s is renowned for its pancakes and selective seating arrangement. There are only eight seats in the original diner, situated in Sag Harbor, which has become popular with celebrities.

It is now being launched on the West Coast of the country for a short run as a pop-up, where the eatery is anticipated to attract a similarly star-studded stream of customers.

Babe’s speciality dish is a decadent breakfast known as The Zeidenstein, which places pastrami, scrambled eggs, latke and American cheese between two pancakes and is finished with 100% pure maple syrup.

The Page Six Hollywood media platform noted that Babe’s is also known for its banana chocolate chip pancakes and its clientele, which ranges from Justin Bieber and Alex Earle to Meg Ryan, players for the New York Yankees and New York Knicks, and the cast of ‘Love Island’.

Diners who were lucky enough to secure a seat may have picked other popular items from the original Hamptons menu, including raspberry jam pancakes and Jerusalem Bagel with French butter, blueberry compote and Maldon salt.

The LA pop-up, which was described as a ‘West Coast tour’, was in operation at four locations across the city from Friday 10 to Monday 13 September. It was set up at Mish Delicatessen, Uncle Paulie’s, Cookbook in Larchmont and LEORA Cafe in the ultimate celebrity hang-out of Beverly Hills.
