Non Alcoholic Apple Cider Recipe
A perfect cosy drink for cold autumn nights. Apple cider can be served hot or cold with a cinnamon stick and star anise to garnish.
This recipe makes 1L of apple cider.
Ingredients
- 5 apples, quartered
- 1/2 orange, halved
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon all spice
- 1 whole nutmeg
- 1 star anise
- Small handful of fresh cranberries
-
60ml Pure Maple Syrup, Amber Rich
Instructions
- Put all the ingredients in a stockpot and add 2L of water. Place on a medium heat and bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat and simmer for 2 hours with the lid on.
- After 2 hours, mash the fruit with a potato masher and simmer for 1 hour uncovered.
- Allow to cool, then pour through a fine sieve, pressing the juices out of the fruit. Discard the fruit and spices. Add more maple syrup if you would like it sweeter.
- Pour the apple cider into a clean, sterilised bottle and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
