Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

Chocolate chip cookies are a favourite in our household. These cookies have a soft and chewy centre. They are perfect with a cup of tea or dunked in a glass of milk. This is a great recipe to get the kids involved in the kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 110g unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 80g Pure Maple Syrup, Amber Rich
  • 60g maple sugar or brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 180g plain flour
  • 15g cornflour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 170g chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Lightly cream the softened butter with the sugar, then add the maple syrup. Continue to blend for about 1 minute in a mixer.
  2. Whisk the egg and vanilla in a separate bowl, then add to the butter mixture. Take care not to overmix.
  3. Place the dry ingredients in a separate bowl, excluding the chocolate chips. Add the wet mixture to the flour and combine with a spatula, then stir in the chocolate chips.
  4. Chill the cookie dough for about 20 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180C, 160C fan, or Gas Mark 4. Line 2 large baking trays with parchment paper. Using an ice cream scoop, portion the dough onto the trays, leaving plenty of space between each cookie.
  6. Bake for 12 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool.
