Top ranking podcaster explains maple syrup health benefits
US comedian and podcaster Joe Rogan recently extolled the virtues of maple syrup during an interview with Canadian politician, Pierre Poilievre.
Clips of the syrup segment continue to attract engagement and have already totted up thousands of likes and hundreds of thousands of views.
Rogan explained that he had always viewed maple syrup as a guilty pleasure, but had recently discovered its numerous health benefits. He surprised Poilievre with his knowledge, stating that maple syrup is a classed as a superfood rich in nutritional benefits. He called attention to maple syrup being healthier than honey due to its lower glycaemic index and talked about it having polyphenols. These micronutrients function as antioxidants and help neutralise harmful free radicals, reducing inflammation. They also have the potential to lower the risk of chronic conditions like diabetes and heart disease. The podcaster also mentioned that 100% pure maple syrup contains many essential minerals including manganese, zinc, calcium and potassium.
The Joe Rogan Experience is considered widely to be the world’s most popular podcast and consistently holds top spots on many major streaming platforms including Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
Together, Poilievre and Rogan also talked about the only strategic maple syrup reserve in the world based in Quebec. Officially titled the “International Strategic Reserve”, it is under the management of the Quebec Maple Syrup Producers and is designed to ensure a continuous supply while stabilising global prices.
Quebec currently produces approximately 72% of the world’s total maple syrup supply.
