US star shares healthy maple syrup recipe
American actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson has revealed one of his favourite dishes to make for his family features maple syrup.
Best known for his role in the successful sitcom “Modern Family” as the neurotic but loveable lawyer, Mitchell Pritchett, Ferguson also heads up a popular podcast called “Dinner’s on Me”. Each episode of the show sees him interview a new celebrity guest while enjoying a restaurant dinner.
In a recent interview of his own with the award-winning food journalism brand, EatingWell, he was asked what he liked to make for family members when he didn’t feel like cooking. The actor, who beyond TV has an accomplished career on stage, shared a healthy recipe that he modifies for his two sons.
The meal involves a simple roast salmon dish which sees the fish infused with maple syrup, lime and Sriracha which he serves with salad grown in his kitchen garden. When preparing it for his children, he turns down the heat and removes the moderately spicy sauce. However, budding chefs wanting to simplify the recipe and add some extra kick could also add hot maple syrup, which takes 100% pure maple syrup and spices it with red chilli peppers.
When roasting fish and meats, amber and dark maple syrup are excellent choices in marinades and glazes as they retain their properties and qualities, even at oven temperatures.
Asked who he would pick to cook him a meal out of his Modern Family cast members, Ferguson chose Ed O’Neill, but commented that Eric Stonestreet was also a good cook.
