Chocolate Banana Bread Recipe
Our delicious chocolate banana bread is sweetened with maple syrup and packed with rich chocolate flavour. It really is chocolate heaven.
Ingredients
- 185g plain flour
- 40g cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 4 ripe bananas
- 175g chocolate chips
- 100g unsalted butter
- 100g Pure Maple Syrup, Dark Robust
- 60g brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 175C, 155C fan, or Gas Mark 4. Line a 2 lb loaf tin.
- Gently melt the butter in a saucepan, add the sugar, and stir until dissolved. Add the maple syrup and chocolate chips, stirring until the chocolate has melted. Set aside to cool slightly.
- In a bowl, whisk the eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy.
- Mash three bananas with a fork. Slice the fourth banana lengthwise to decorate the top later.
- In a separate bowl, weigh out and mix the dry ingredients.
- Once the chocolate mixture has cooled slightly, gradually mix in the beaten eggs and dry ingredients.
- Add the mashed bananas and fold in the milk. Arrange the banana slices on top.
- Bake in the centre of the oven for 50 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
