Maple Brownie Recipe
These delicious, gooey maple brownies are a family favourite.
Ingredients
- 165g unsalted butter
- 200g semi sweet chocolate chips
- 3 eggs, separated
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 65g brown sugar
- 90g Pure Maple Syrup, Dark Robust
- 80g plain flour
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180C or 160C fan, gas mark 4. Line a 20cm square tin with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over a medium heat. Remove from the heat, add the chocolate chips, then set aside to cool.
- Whisk the five egg yolks with the vanilla until light and fluffy. Slowly whisk in the brown sugar, then the maple syrup, mixing continuously. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Stir the cooled chocolate mixture until smooth, then add it to the egg yolk mixture, pouring it slowly down the side of the bowl. Whisk until fully combined.
- Sift the flour, cocoa powder, and salt over the chocolate mixture, then fold in gently with a spatula until incorporated.
- Fold in the whisked egg whites. Pour into the tin and bake for about 25 minutes. The brownies should remain slightly gooey in the middle.
- Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
