Maple Rhubarb and Apple Crumble Recipe

The simplest dessert to make but always so delicious. This maple rhubarb and apple crumble is perfect served with custard or ice cream.

Ingredients

  • 300g rhubarb
  • 390g Granny Smith apples

  • 110g Pure Maple Syrup, Amber Rich
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 200g plain flour
  • 100g unsalted butter, chilled and cut into cubes
  • 55g maple sugar or brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan, Gas Mark 6).
  2. Cut the rhubarb into 6cm pieces and cut the apple into similar sized chunks.
  3. Place the fruit in a large shallow ovenproof dish. Add the orange zest and maple syrup and mix well.
  4. In a food processor, blitz the flour and butter until it resembles fine breadcrumbs, then stir in the sugar.
  5. Scatter the crumble mixture over the fruit and spread it out evenly.
  6. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
  7. Serve with custard or ice cream.
