Sourdough Toasties with Maple Vinegar Red Onions, Brie and Prosciutto

In this recipe, these humble toasties are made extra special with red onions naturally sweetened with our delicious Pure Maple Vinegar. When combined with brie and prosciutto, they make a sophisticated lunch or an easy dinner.

Ingredients

  • Sourdough bread, sliced
  • 1/2 small red onion
  • 2 tablespoons Pure Maple Vinegar
  • 90g brie
  • 40g prosciutto
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil, for frying
  • Soft butter, for spreading

Makes 2 toasties

Method

Heat a frying pan on a low heat with a little olive oil.

Thinly slice the red onion and add to the pan once hot. Add the maple vinegar and gently cook until the onion has softened.

Spread a little butter on the outside of each slice of bread.

On one slice of sourdough, layer a few pieces of brie, some of the softened red onions and a couple of slices of prosciutto. Add a little more brie and top with the second slice of bread.

Return the sandwich to the pan and cook on both sides until the bread is golden and the cheese has melted.

Serve immediately and enjoy.
